So it's a hot Friday and all the cafes are full, and me and my fellow yummy mummy are looking for a place to sit, in the air con. But north Tel Aviv is bursting and none of the trendy baby cafes are free. And so I suggest going to the cafe on the corner of Nordo, the one I often drive past and always looks buzzing. As it comes into my site, I realize it's a branch of Aroma, disappointed but at this point too hot to care, we go to it anyway (they have nice ice coffee). On entering we are accosted by really bad furnisher and heaving tables of old age pensioners. On closer inspection we notice they have all finished their one tiny cup of espresso and are now stacking up the free plastic water cups (we too help ourseleves to a cup of water). In amongst the massive groups of old folk there's a couple of single lesbians (surely they know somewhere more trendy?) and one lonely fat person (he can stay, he's blending in). I don't have anything against any of the above, only that none of them seem to be either eating or drinking and we're now two prams, 2 sandwich trays and restless babies later. The girl at the counter asks if I am staying in .......I replay " Sure I am just waiting for someone to die' Finally we give up and sit outside, on the street, cars blurring by, while nice old ladies dribble over our young ones chunky legs. Yuk.There's a lovely breeze for 5 minutes, before 3 members of staff, with dirty aprons, park themselves next to us and light their cigarettes....the lovely breeze wafts it straight into our prams, and we leave. Never again.....next week shenkin. |
