(over the last year - ☺= good ☻= bad) Laagan: Amazing Indian film, true bollywood with a twist. Fantastic story, a real uplifting ending and it will have even the most somber dancing and singing by the end. ☺☺☺☺☺ Time: Korean. Except for the fact that the translation is so funny it will have you in stitches, the story is silly and infantile. Really enjoyed it on a sick, laughing with my friends about it level. ☻☻ Nine Queens: Argentinean. A must see. I am sure you have but if you haven’t go and get it out right now. I don’t want to spoil the plot. ☺☺☺☺☺ Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer: Korean. Both the same director. So bad it made me cry.☻☻☻☻☻ Inside Man: USA. Super thriller and really easy on the eyes.☺☺☺ Little Miss Sunshine: USA. A real joy. Worth seeing at least once. Funny and light and kind of special. ☺☺ Bombón: El Perro: Argentinean. All real cast no actors, simple and unique. If your looking for something a bit different.☺☺☺ Italian for beginners: Danish (I think). The first 40 minutes depress the shit out of you, but then it turns into a work of art, definitely worth staying to watch till the end.☺☺☺☺ Office space: USA. If you hate your job watch it, it’s funny.☺☺ Mean girls: USA. Seems like a teen movie, but look again, good old fashioned cult movie (Donnie Darko meets Heathers). ☺☺ Hot Fuzz / Sean of the Dead: UK. If you like British humour these two films will blow you away.☺☺☺☺☺ Hero: China. Beautiful and the best of all the crouching tiger generation.☺☺ School for scoundrels: USA. Ruthlessly funny. Style of School of rock but with no kids in it.☺☺☺ Amores perros: Mexican. The best film maybe ever made, but not for the faint hearted. And much better the Babel.☺☺☺☺☺ Of course these are not the only films I saw over the last year......but they are the ones I chose to share. If you have any to tell me about, I would appreciate the advice, or if you disagree with any of my comments.....I would like to hear your opinion too. No need to stress I have not included Borat, Volver or Departed as we have all seen those, right. |
