    Isn't it time for Palestine?

I am happy for the Palestinians. No, really! They have a leader who knows how to pump up their ego, gives them a sense of achievement and strengthens their identity. I mean, look at what Mr. Abbas has done for them. In this tiny little place, that calls itself Palestine (sorry, yes, it is tiny, when you look at the globe, even tinier then Israel) is split in two. The poor population finds itself i...
n the midst of a power struggle between two rivaling groups with the same goal: to replace the state of Israel with the state of Palestine (Israel = a Jewish state in which Palestinians live and have equal citizens rights, Palestine = a Palestinian State in which Jews could not set foot). The difference is that Hamas goes the way of violence and terror and uses rockets, whereas the Palestinian Authority goes the way of diplomacy and uses words and manipulation.
Right after the rocket attack on Israel by Hamas totally failed, because they got their heads banged in and achieved only destruction in part of Palestine, Mr. Abbas used the momentum, quickly went to the UN and got a resolution passed which made all of Palestine believe that now they are a state. What a hero!
And yet, I don’t get it. They want their own independent state? Their own country? That isn’t something that is given to someone; it is something that needs to be build. You do not feed people with a UN resolution, you do not heal the sick with a UN resolution. You can’t produce electricity from it or derive water from it. It does not enable you to make the desert bloom. A UN resolution does not give you the width to run a country or build modern industry. And you certainly don’t settle your internal power struggles with it.
The greatness of a leader is proven by his ability to see beyond what the average person is able to see and lead his people to success, not by winning some points in a political gambling game or in the competition of who inflicted more damage to the image of Israel.
Isn’t it time they started turning their energies inside and focused on building and developing that, which they want so badly? Unless, of course, what they want more is the destruction of Israel, in which case I am rather pessimistic regarding the Palestinian future and peace in the region. I will be in favor of a Palestinian state, when Palestinian leadership will invest more energy and resources into building that state then they invest into destroying the state of Israel AND after they officially recognize Israel as the Jewish state.
