It's that time of year again, we morn, morn again and then rejoice as if there is no tomorrow. It’s that time of year when my emotions for this country, this piece of land overwhelms me. It is not the affection for the land like its for what this state symbolizes. Don't get me wrong I think we have the most amazing land in the world. When I talk about Israel I always like to talk of the fact that in one day I can go skiing head south see the desert and even go to the beach.

But walking home tonight I know the price we have had to pay to try, and I stress to try, and live in peace. Tomorrow we will be morning our friends, family and brothers in arms, and as in every year even in these somber and difficult moments we will meet friends and manage to hopefully put a smile on each others faces. This is something I guess even native Israelis can never get used too.

I have been living here for 13 years now and for most of those years here I served the country in one way or another. Along the way I have had to bury 8 of my friends, hell I even took part in a war which is something surreal in it self. And amidst all the controversy domestically my connection to this country has only strengthened over the years; especially my love for the bubble which I am proud to live in; well its more than a bubble. When I say bubble I don’t mean Tel- Aviv, but I mean that boulevard I fell in love in a few years back, known to many as Rothschild.

But this year is the first year I got out there to try to benefit my self of the many other things this country has to offer. This year I left the main stream way of life and went to try my luck out as an entrepreneur. It isn't easy as we all know, however the strive to succeed and hope that one day we will be able to "exit" keeps me going. But something else I realized only a few days ago, when out of the country, there is something deep inside me that says I want to succeed and say to the world this is another blue and white product, another product from Israel. That’s when I understood that although I still consider myself a Zionist, maybe of a few that still exist, I am still an active Zionist. A Zionist doesn’t not have to be serving the country at arms or need to go around the world and try and convince the world that we are right or that we mean well, I know that is a very arguable point. But a Zionist can also be a self centered business person wanting to make money but won't hide the fact that we are from Israel and yea the Israelis produces some kick ass awesome ideas. This is a type of new age yuppie Zionist, a "Zuppie".  

So as a "Zuppie" I call on all of those people going world wide with great ideas and programs, Don’t hide the fact that you are selling an Israeli product. Don’t hide the fact that your base of operations is Israel and most of all be proud that you belong to this small country. This is not the reason why some products don’t sell! If the product is that good no one cares of its origin. And if the companies polices are against buying Israeli products then ….. fuck them.

As a Zuppie I also call on the people leading the country to stop doing us "bushot" don’t make us hide the fact that we are Israelis because you can't control your sex drive, or you can't keep your eyes of the money! And as our "face to the world” do us a favour understand the importance of your duty and how many people rely on you!!!!

What's left for me to say is hey Hag Sameach, enjoy your parties and remember next year we celebrating 60 years so imagine the parties we going to have!
