Can anyone give me any tips on how to sweeten my boss?

He's always in a bad mood, and it seems mainly with me. Whatever I do is wrong and he's always biting my head off. I have been here one year and it seems our relationship is just getting worse (at least in the beginning he was polite). 

So what can I do I can't quit and I am really having a bad time. Any ideas?
