| Investments in Sport has become very popular although still problematic due to; difficulties in barriers of Entry to a lot of trust in the investor to unconditional trading environment but people that deal with this section can produce high returns.I have been dealing in the past in sports investment more focusing in Football and all surrounding aspects (player financing, stadium financing) these are usually built on future income generating in the club it allows smaller clubs compete with the financial power that the bigger players have. In terms of football 90% of football players in South America are privately owned by private people, but the problem rises as it’s not really legal to own someone in Europe, but there are ways to get around it (and it’s most problematic in the UK). Just few examples in the amount that can be done if you know your players; In C. Ronaldo a private Portuguese fund invested at the value of less than 1 million Euros, a year and half later he was sold to Man u for approx 13 million Pounds, if the fund would have kept their interest in the player they could have participate in the future transfer to Real Madrid (as talks now around the value of 75 million pounds). But we don’t like to take extreme positions Anderson which was valued at 5 million Euros a year before sold to Man U, while Nani was valued at 7 million Euros a year before both were sold to Man u at 15 and 17 million pounds respectively. The opportunities are big but the risks are also there if you have an access of money it is a very interesting way of investing but you need to know that it will take time. |
