The anchor man is an expression that was taken from the media. There they call the individual who announces the news – an Anchor man. It is simply because he has to integrate all the pieces of information that are given by the reporters, editors and directors at the same time, then he has to arrange these pieces of information into one complete, understandable report.
As you can see the announcing is not so easy to do, because of the requirement for this unique expertise. The anchor man has to develop skills almost the same as a pilot in a cockpit. The anchor man is the best example to describe the function that an organization has to have in order to be success in integrating the resources, experts and actions in a single process in order to achieve an effective solution. The anchor man is a professional function that can combine all the pieces of information and resources together to one holistic perception about the act the organization has to take in a specific circumstance or in a specific process.
The anchor man can operate the knowledge map better than anyone else in the organization. This fact is important to internalize not just because he is so important, but because in almost every organization, this professional exists only informally. Those professional integrators who are usually considered as time-wasting workers represent the next generation of managers. They are experts not in a specific content, skill or knowledge area, but they are experts in integration, they can create a holistic perception of the situation of the organization at a specific point, just like the media's Anchor man.
Although our anchor-men appear in many organizations only, informally, as is the center-point for activate effective results in any process. There is a simple explanation for this in that we can't activate any of the needed processes without integrating the resources, workers and actions. The main reason to create a "working-process" is that we need to synchronize several sequential actions, which have to be taken in order to achieve a complete object. Never the less, some organizations already have such a formal professional as our anchor man, called "Product Manager" or "Client Manager". No one is needed to manage a product and no one will want to manage a client. It is simply a definition of a formal function that is required to integrate all that is needed in order to resolve any of the client requests.
So, the anchor men plus the Knowledge-map can show us the short but correct way to coordinate the relevant knowledge at a specific time and place, with the relevant experts in the organization. According to my experience, this is the only way we can expect to implement the relevant knowledge. This might also be, the only way to distribute the knowledge and to create a real and effective collaboration and innovation regarding in order to achieve a suitable solution for any of the organization's demands
