בעקבות רצח תושב בלעין באסם איברהים אבו רחמה (אלפיל) במהלך הפגנה עממית נגד הגדר

חיילי צה"ל ירו בבאסם איבראהים אבו רחמה על אדמות כפרו בלעין, במהלך הפגנת יום השישי נגד גדר ההפרדה. הם ירו עליו רימון גז בעל טווח מוגדל, ממרחק של 30 מטרים ובכינון ישיר, בניגוד להוראות הפתיחה באש שלהם עצמם. באסם נפגע באופן קשה בבטנו ומת תוך זמן קצר בבית החולים ברמאללה.
בתקופה האחרונה הסלימו כוחות הכיבוש את מתקפותיהם על מפגינים נגד הגדר. רימוני גז בטווח מוגדל ובכינון ישיר הוכחו כנשק מסוכן וקטלני, בין היתר בפציעתו הקשה של המפגין טריסטן אנדרסון לפני כחודש. ירי אש חיה בידי צלפים הפך לאמצעי מקובל לפיזור הפגנות. כדורי מתכת מצופים גומי נורים לעבר מפגינים כדבר שבשגרה. דמם של מפגינים מותר, וממשיך להשפך. השתיקה של הציבור, התקשורת ומקבלי ההחלטות נמשכת גם היא.

Israeli troops shot the 30 year old Bassem Ibrahim Abu Rahmah on the lands of his village Bi'lin, during the weekly demonstration against the apartheid wall. They fired an extended range teargas projectile directly at him from a distance of 30 meters, against their own open-fire regulations. Bassem was critically injured in the stomach and died not long after in a hospital in Ramallah.
Recently, the occupation forces have escalated their attacks on protestors against the wall. Extended range teargas canisters have proved to be a lethal weapon, causing the serious injury of Tristan Anderson. Shooting of live ammunition by snipers has become a common instrument for scattering demonstrations. Rubber coated bullets are ordinarily directed at protestors. All this suggests that protestors' lives have become cheap. Blood continues to be spilled, but the silence of the public, media and decision makers persists. Facing the increasing violence we call:
To continue the popular resistance to the occupation and the wall
To put an end to all use of lethal weapons against demonstrators
To bring all occupation criminals, including those shooting at civilians, to justice
