Lets first start off with the facts: unlike what most people think - marketing and advertising is actually very hard and It's hard on three levels.
The first level is the actual planning of a marketing and advertising campaign - in this industry in order to succeed you must put extra hours to create a successful campaign. When a client is paying me a set fee every month I am always finding myself going way beyond what I am getting paid for - because thats just the way it is in this industry if you want to deliver good results for your client.
The second level is the response you get from a marketing campaign. After launching a campaign
you will find that many times people will have negative things to say. I once heard Jim Rohn say that when new salesmen get started in the business and they begin marketing their products and suddenly someone says "BOOOO" the new salesmen quickly runs to find a hiding place..... That's why it's very important to Develop Toughness with a Positive Attitude. (The toughness I am talking about here is an inner toughness:)
The third level is staying update today with the latest trends and news in this industry - especially in the online marketing arena. What was correct a year ago in online marketing - may not be today. Unlike traditional marketing - online marketing is constantly going through major
changes.
So why is this a great industry to be in?
Very simple:
When business is good - companies LIKE to do marketing and advertising
When business is bad - companies NEED to do marketing and advertising
