All too often, when companies, which are not in the major league (who don't have budgets for market research and test) decide on a logo or a graphical concept, they do so on a purely emotional level, passing it around INTERNALLY.
The final decision is made on the basis of whether "so and so likes it", "it looks good to so and so", "it doesn't click for so and so," etc.
All these considerations are completely irrelevant.
The decision needs to be a purely strategic one:
WHAT DOES THE "LOOK" CONVEY?
IS THIS THE MAIN MESSAGE THAT THE COMPANY WISHES TO CONVEY AT THIS POINT IN TIME?
I suggest you also draw the attention of your customer at Wired Magazine, which is considered as "Mount Sinai" for creative work.
Additionally, as a designer, you should never say: - "This is the final version". BUT – Tell your client: “whenever you come across something that you find appealing to you, forward to me over here, to the designers desk….”
